[Rec]2

Starring: Pep Molina

Directed by: Jaume Balaguer and Paco Plaza

Release Date: Jul 09, 2010

Continuing where [Rec] left off, its sequel tries to recapture the same feelings of dread, terror, and claustrophobia, but all I felt at the finale was boredom, confusion, and frustration. The plot is tossed back and forth like a baseball and even manages to try throwing in a sub-plot at the halfway mark. The action is... good, although the shaky-cam/POV is starting to get tedious. case in point, the camera is dropped at least three times while there is action going on off camera: this is enough, please knock it off. The ending was strange; on one hand, I like how they wrap up certain aspects of the infection and how that may work out in the next movie. On the other hand, I didn't like the explaination and origin of the infection; sure, in the first movie it was explained that the infection was demonic and that was clever. In this movie, it just gets down right silly with how the "infected" are shown. For [Rec] fans, I'd rent this, but don't get your hopes up.

Rating: * * 1/2 of 5
