The Amazing Spider-Man (Trailer) review

So, the teaser rubbed people the wrong way and Rhys Ifans made a spectacle of himself at SDCC last year: not exactly a great start for the Spider-Man reboot.

The full trailer? Look much more promising. Lots of great action, even a good Spidey-zinger (something desperately lacking from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy) and even some good blink-and-you miss'em moments with Dr. Curt Connors as THE LIZARD. All good. However, there's yet ANOTHER "unmasked in public" moment. Didn't we have this in Spider-Man 2? I thought the point of the reboot was to do new things with the wall-crawler. Also, I'm not digging the "emotionally disturbed" Peter Parker; couldn't we just have a socially awkward Pete, someone not comfortable with getting praise? Maybe the movie will be different, but that's what I saw.

Spider-Man Reboot gets a title!

The title for the Spider-Man reboot.....THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!

I love this title, as it was the original title for Spider-Man 2 and is also the title for Spider-Man's monthly comic series that started all the way back in the 1960's.

Also, I have seen more pictures of the Spider-Man costume used in the reboot: it's starting to grow on me. Hopefully, we'll hear more news about the villain in the movie; my hopes are on Electro or Mysterio!

Nostalgia Critic....

Three years ago, I stumbled onto a website called http://www.thatguywiththeglasses.com/, and became a fan: NC, Linkara, Spoony, Cinema Snob...I discovered alot of cool people on that site. I'm a big fan of Doug Walker, he's a funny dude. Now, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but his latest "Top 11 Review" has me a bit perplexed. First and Foremost, I'm not trashing Walker, TGWTG, or his credentials; I'm just pointing out what I saw.

In his latest video "Top 11 Dumbest SPIDERMAN Moments", I had a few things to say:

1.  Spider-Man, Not Spiderman. There's a hyphen
2.  Emo-Peter was a terrible decision
3.  Venom should have been given his own movie
4. There was never a "Lizardman", just "The Lizard"
5. Doc Ock is meant to be insane, and obsessed with his work over his wife; it's how he was portrayed in the comics (minus the wife). Maybe Linkara should have gone over a few errors with Walker before putting it on the web
6. John jameson was meant to be seen, not heard. He's Peter's rival, not his friend. Although Walker's idea about Jameson becoming Venom was better than Topher Grace
7. Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer.... did nothing for Walker? I was pretty mad. But again, Walker admits he's unfamiliar with the comics. Again, maybe a counterpoint reviewer would have benefitted Walker's review.

Let it not be said I don't have a sense of humor, but I'm a Spider-Man fan, and I needed to address my concerns.

This movie is on my top ten favorites of all time. My favorite reasons are: faithful to the comics, the relationship between MJ and Peter, and Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus. First, this film is amazing as it follows so closely to the comics: peter continues to struggle with his double life, unfortunately hurting his loved ones in the process; Harry is desperate to destroy spider-man after believing his father was killed by him. Finally, Mary Jane is trying to move past her feelings for Peter. I love the relationship between Mary Jane and Peter, it's so realistic and heart-wrenching which makes it all the more to root for them to wind up together. I love Alfred molina as Doc ock, he's perfect for the role as he masterfully makes a stirring performance when he first speaks to his mechanical arms. Finally, look for the homage to Amazing Spider-man #50, where peter throws his spider-man suit in the trash can.
