Grown Ups

Starring Adam Sandler, David Spade, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and Rob Schneider

Directed by Dennis Dugan

Release Date: June 25th, 2010

...okay, so after Funny People, Adam Sandler had nowhere to go but up. Thankfully, Grown-Ups is a return to Sandler's younger days, of wacky comedy and stupid physcial humor. Only now, he gets to share the screen with fellow comedians, such as Spade, Rock, and Schneider, whom Sandler is friends with off screen and also starred with on Saturday Night Live. James, who is filling in the shoes of Chris Farrely, but is still performing admirably with the other comedians. The plot works well: a group of friends get together to mourn the loss of their childhood basketball coach, but also come together to catch up and learn about one another's families. I also liked how the movie touched on how different each family raises their children, and how we all envy the other family and don't see how great our own spouses and family are.

Schmaltzy yes, but at least it's enjoyable.
